Platrium Gives Back When You “Give Yourself a Break”
Platrium rewards consumers with “Jacks” for every game played; Jacks can be converted to prizes or donated to charity
BELLEVUE, Wash. – Oct. 29, 2008 – Platrium (http://www.platrium.com) and the Platrium Playbar – a toolbar giving consumers a break – today announced Platrium Rewards (http://rewards.platrium.com), a program that gives participants “Jacks” for every game played. Jacks can then be donated to charities or used to win fun prizes.
“Our casual games have always made it possible to take a break from the challenges of the day,” said Neal Freeland, vice president of online marketing, Platrium. “With Platrium Rewards we’ve now made playing games more fulfilling, giving our community members the chance to win entertaining prizes or donate to deserving charities. The fun is now not only in the games, but also in the unique way our members can earn, spend and donate Jacks.”
Each time members of the Platrium community play games from their Playbar or from Platrium.com they earn Jacks, and the more they play, the more earned. Jacks can then be used to enter “Spin to Win” sweepstakes for environmentally friendly prizes like Platrium-branded grocery tote bags or $100 in free gas with $50 in carbon offsets. Alternately, members can use their Jacks to enter auctions for fun novelty items like Aloha stickers to brighten up dark winter days or Pop Rocks and soda to test the urban legend in the safety of their own home.
In addition, members can also donate Jacks to charities. To increase the impact of their giving, Platrium members have selected charities in four areas: disaster relief, breast cancer research, child development, and environmental conservation. The charity program is donor-advised and run in partnership with JustGive (http://www.justgive.org), a non-profit that helps connect people with the charities and causes they care about.
“Since launching in June, Platrium has focused on delivering a simple, easy and fun experience for online casual gamers, all supported by advertising,” added Freeland. “Platrium Rewards is one more way for us to give consumers a break while giving back to the community.”

Platrium Earns TRUSTe Trusted Download Program Certification
BELLEVUE, Wash. and SAN FRANCISCO – Sept. 23, 2008 – Platrium (www.platrium.com) today announced that its
software application, Platrium, version 1.2 has passed the certification process
for TRUSTe’s Trusted Download Program. This application, at the version level, has
been certified by TRUSTe to clearly communicate key functionalities, to obtain informed
consumer consent prior to download, and provide an easy uninstall with clear instructions,
among other requirements.
The Trusted Download whitelist can be found here:
www.truste.org/tdp/whitelist.
“TRUSTe and its Trusted Download Program have taken the online downloadable
software industry to the next level by setting the bar for all legitimate companies
in the space with regard to notice, consent, user control and program behavior,”
said Ken McGraw, chief compliance officer of Platrium. “TRUSTe certification
demonstrates our steadfast commitment to informed consumer choice and control. Notice,
consent to download, easy uninstallation, software transparency and reliability
– these are all fundamental ways we ensure informed choice and control, and all
are integral to a TRUSTe whitelisted certification.”
“After thorough review and testing, TRUSTe is pleased to certify the Platrium
Playbar under the Trusted Download Program criteria. Platrium has passed the extensive
program requirements set forth in the Program and is the newest addition to the
whitelist,” said Fran Maier, executive director and president of TRUSTe. “Its
whitelisting distinguishes it for distributors, marketers and others as a responsible
software application.”
The program sponsors, representing leading content and search providers, anti-spyware
vendors and online advertisers, offer market incentives for downloadable software
publishers to get certified. AOL, CA, CNET Networks, Microsoft, Verizon and Yahoo!
will use the whitelist as a tool to help make business decisions related to advertising,
partnering and distributing software products. By providing a whitelist of trusted
applications, the program aims to provide attractive market incentives to software
publishers to meet the requirements and earn certification.
“Our partnership with TRUSTe has helped us improve our software, our processes
and the way we think about the downloadable application space,” said Keith
Smith, CEO of Platrium. “Our employees are completely committed to TRUSTe’s
Trusted Download Program and are focused on protecting consumers and business partners
alike. TRUSTe’s expertise, helpful direction and real-world understanding make it
an invaluable resource for the industry and a champion of the interests of consumers.”
During the certification process, TRUSTe reviews notice and consent experience for
consumers, and tests the operation and behavior of the software with testing partner
AppLabs Technologies. A premier provider of testing, QA and certification of software
and hardware platforms, AppLabs has worked with TRUSTe to develop a rigorous set
of testing protocols to assess a broad range of application behavior. With the launch
of the whitelist, TRUSTe will be conducting ongoing monitoring of the applications
as they are encountered by users.
About the Trusted Download Program
Trusted Download is a certification program for downloadable software, which demonstrates
informed consumer choice, doesn't exhibit surreptitious activities, and is distributed
in a responsible manner. A seal at the point of download reassures consumers and
a whitelist elevates certified software for advertisers and distributors. The complete
set of program requirements, and additional information on the certification criteria,
program elements, FAQs and sponsor roles, is available on the Trusted Download website
at www.trusteddownload.com.

BELLEVUE, Wash. and NEW YORK – Aug. 12, 2008 – Platrium

thanks to a partnership announced today with Online Chaperone
(www.onlinechaperone.com). Online Chaperone, powered by Sobayli
(www.sobayli.com) technology, is a unique safety tool that uses cutting
edge research to automatically protect Internet consumers and children.
“Platrium is all about taking a break from everyday cares and concerns,” said Neal
Freeland, vice president of online marketing, Platrium. “But you can only do this
if you know you and your children are protected from the constant threat of online
predators and offensive content. Platrium, now with Online Chaperone, gives people
peace of mind so they can enjoy the Web and not worry.”
Online Chaperone, which is an optional component of the Platrium Playbar experience,
has been developed by a team of neuroscientists and software engineers working in
conjunction with former members of the FBI and the National Center for Missing &
Exploited Children. Trained using real chat logs from confirmed online predators,
it uses enhanced artificial intelligence to detect suspicious or offensive chat
and instant messenger conversations, and limits access to offensive sites or content.
Furthermore, it can automatically alert parents when concerning activities occur.
“Platrium is a perfect fit for Online Chaperone,” said Sam Cox, COO of Sobayli.
“People want to have fun and relax online, but they need to first feel protected
and safe. Online Chaperone gives people a break from Internet threats so they can
take a break with Platrium. The two offerings work well together.”

‘Give Yourself a Break’ with Platrium and the Platrium Playbar, The
New Online Casual Gaming Experience Launching Today
Platrium – emphasis on the “Play” – promises a one-of-a-kind Playbar experience
combining the ease of use of a toolbar and the excitement of a destination casual
games Web site
BELLEVUE, Wash. – June 2, 2008 – Online casual gamers
can now take the “break” they deserve at Platrium.com and with the Platrium Playbar
– a toolbar with a personality so fun-loving that “toolbar” just didn’t fit as a
description. Launching in beta today, Platrium (www.platrium.com) is a unique casual
gaming experience delivering a vast collection of games for free. Taking a break
was never so fun or easy!
Platrium (pronounced “PLAY-tree-um”) is the next advancement in Internet browser
entertainment. Unlike any toolbar in the marketplace, Platrium’s Playbar delivers
a unique experience combining the ease of use of a toolbar and the excitement of
Platrium.com, a destination casual games Web site. Platrium.com is just the first
of many entertainment channels planned for release under the Platrium brand name.
“Platrium gives you permission to relax and take a break from everyday cares and
concerns,” said Val Sanford, vice president of marketing and product management
at Platrium. “We’ve collected lots of great casual games and made them available
at the Platrium.com Web site and through the customizable Platrium Playbar. The
end result is a unique casual game experience that’s ready for you whenever you
want – or need – an escape or diversion.”
At the top of Platrium’s list of unique features is the Playbar. It’s easy for anyone
to select their favorite Platrium games for display in the Playbar. Those games
can then be played right from the Playbar’s Play Window, at any time and from any
location while the consumer is online. The same games can also be played at the
Platrium.com Web site. In addition, the Playbar contains a Message Center, plus
one-click access to tens of thousands of emoticons and avatars for personalized
expression online.
All Platrium games (plus the emoticons and avatars) are free when the consumer adds
the Playbar to his or her Web browser. In addition to its full-game access and unique,
customizable features, the Playbar generates relevant and helpful advertising and
comparison shopping offers. Platrium’s advertisers and offer sponsors cover all
monetary costs associated with the free games.
“Consumers, advertisers, and sponsors are co-partners in Platrium,” added Platrium’s
Sanford. “I’m very excited about the Playbar in particular. It includes the expected
search box that will generate relevant search results, including sponsored listings,
when a search term is entered. But the Playbar also includes a valuable comparison
shopping engine designed to deliver timely results and empower consumers to easily
compare prices for a particular product, or type of product, across thousands of
Internet stores. And because the search and comparison shopping activity is separate
from the gaming experience, consumers can focus on games without interruption when
they’re taking a break and engage with Platrium advertisers and sponsors when they
are shopping or browsing the Web.”
The Platrium Playbar also includes another highly clicked ad format – the Slider.
Slider ads are similar to an instant messaging notification in both size and delivery
mode.
All advertising from and offers through Platrium are based on keywords. Platrium
software does not collect personally identifiable information, enabling consumers
to receive relevant, useful ads and offers without sacrificing their privacy. Platrium’s
Playbar adheres to industry best practices for consumer notice, consent and control.
